METHOD FOR TESTING A DRIVE ACCORDING TO POWER SHORTAGE

A method for performing a test adapted to power and an apparatus therefor are provided to reduce time necessary for performing a test process, enhance a test successful rate, and minimize power necessary for performing the test by adaptively adjusting the number of heads used in the test in case that the power is insufficient when the test of a bank write mode is performed. A power control unit(300) judges whether power is insufficient when a test of a bank write mode is performed. If the power is insufficient, a test reset unit(330) resets the test. If the test is reset, a write head adjusting unit(340) reduces the number of heads(310) used in the test. A test performing unit(350) performs the test by using the heads(310).
