An apparatus for inspecting an edge defect of a glass plate is provided to improve the productivity by reducing the generation of loss according to a test time and a test method. An apparatus for inspecting an edge defect for a glass plate includes a body(10), at least one camera, and a read only computer(20). The read only computer reads defects of first and second edges. The defect of the first edge is read by a relative parallelism of a line connecting various points of the first edge with respect to a base line connecting reference points of a roller. The defect of the second defect is read by a relative parallelism of a line connecting various points of the second edge with respect to a base line connecting reference points of a feeding line.
