RELAY SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CELLULAR COMMUNICATION

A relay communication system for cellular communication and a method therefor are provided to dispose relay stations operated by UB(Unlicensed Band) resources in shade areas or cell edges of an LB(Licensed Band)-based BS(Base Station), thereby expanding overall service areas or resolving the shade areas. When an MS(Mobile Station) located in a UB service area requests resources(S410), a relay station decides whether the corresponding MS is positioned out of a service area of a BS(S420). If so, the relay station enters a UB resource allocation mode(S430). If the MS is positioned within the service area of the BS, the relay station decides whether available LB resources exist(S440). If so, the relay station enters an LB resource allocation mode(S450).
