A character input method in a mobile terminal is provided to allow a user to easily and quickly input characters and to reduce an error in inputting characters by toggling a consonant. When a character input mode is activated(201), a controller checks whether a particular button is inputted. When the particular button is inputted, the controller checks a previously inputted consonant(205). The controller processes the next consonant of the checked consonant as a final consonant(207).
