A method for manufacturing boro-hydride compound is provided to maximize the reaction efficiency by selecting the metal with the minimum x/y ratio. A boron-containing salt, metal oxide catalyst for promoting the formation of the surface hydride from gaseous hydrogen and at least one of metal and hydride thereof are mixed. The formed compound is ground so that the compound containing the boro-hydride anion is formed. The metal and at least one metal in the metal and the hydride is selected from a group consisting of La, Y, Sc, Ti, Zr, Al or Si. The compound containing the boro-hydride anion is the sodium boro-hydride.
