The proposed method of remote measurements for determining the height temperature patterns of air in acoustic sounding of the atmosphere consists in transmitting oscillating acoustic sounding signals in a vertical direction, receiving reflected acoustic signals that are scattered in the result of the temperature inhomogeneity of the atmosphere, determining the sound velocity and air temperature at different heights, and using the data so obtained for determining the temperature patterns. The length of the time interval for transmitting the sounding signal is varied according to a specified program. The reflected acoustic signals are received at identical time intervals, the length of which is equal to the half of the time interval for transmitting the sounding signal. The proposed method is distinctive by its enhanced resolution in measurements.
