<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus for discriminating information of stored contents, selecting the contents by itself and providing the information of the contents to a user without causing a sense of incongruity. <P>SOLUTION: A contents information providing section 212 acquires contents information from a contents information storage section 211 storing contents information and supplies the contents information to a display control section 270. A recommended contents information providing section 250 selects contents information from the contents information storage section 211 as recommended contents information under a prescribed condition and supplies the selected contents information to the display control section 270. When a mode storage section 260 stores information of a user leadership mode, a user selects the contents information and the display control section 270 displays the contents information.
