<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for operating an optical sensor. <P>SOLUTION: The respective optical sensors are connected sequentially to a common input of a receiver, in this method of operating the plurality of optical sensors. At least one out of the optical sensors is short-circuited to the ground, when at least one out of the optical sensors is connected to the common input. This device is used for executing the method, and includes the plurality of optical sensors and the receiver having the common input. A plurality of first switches connects one out of the optical switches to the common input.
