PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for effectively improving fuel consumption of an automatic transmission mounted vehicle with a forward movement friction element when stopped. SOLUTION: The control device for the automatic transmission mounted vehicle controls the forward movement friction element or hydraulic pressure depending on a stop time when the vehicle is stopped, while determining how condition the vehicle is stopped in when the stop time is relatively shorter for temporary stop at a crossing place or stop at a red light or when the stop time is longer for stop in traffic congestion.
