VERTICAL REACTION APPARATUS HAVING SOLID-RETAINABLE PART

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical reaction apparatus which has a simple shape and in which a fluid is brought into efficient contact with a solid by adopting a specific operating procedure to advance a desired chemical reaction. SOLUTION: The vertical reaction apparatus having a tapered part for retaining the solid, which is used for the reaction of chemical substances and in which at least one tapered part is arranged partially, is provided with: a supply means for introducing the fluid and the solid into the vertical reaction apparatus; a reaction means for adjusting a flow of the fluid to retain the solid in the tapered part and bring the retained solid into contact with the fluid and/or the solid in suspended states; a means for retaining solid residues and solid by-products at the bottom of the vertical reaction apparatus; and a means for recovering a reaction product. This vertical reaction apparatus is effective when a useful gas is produced by gasifying organic waste such as biomass, plastics and garbage or an organic material such as coal or when liquid fuel is synthesized by using the useful gas as a raw material.
