In an aqueous solution (20) containing a hydrogen ion and at least one ion (L) other than a hydroxyl ion, voltage is applied across an ion adsorption electrode (11) containing an electrically conductive material (C1), which can adsorb an ion, and an ion adsorption electrode (12) containing an electrically conductive material (C2), which can adsorb an ion, so that the ion adsorption electrode (11) is an anode, whereby an anion contained in an aqueous solution (20) is adsorbed on the electrically conductive material (C1) and a cation contained in the aqueous solution (20) is adsorbed on the electrically conductive material (C2). Next, in a water-containing liquid (30), voltage is applied across any one of the ion adsorption electrode (11) or the ion adsorption electrode (12) and a counter electrode (13) or (14) to change pH of the liquid (30).
|
