The invention relates to a molding compound which comprises a mixture of interpenetrating polymers. A first phase comprises a cross-linked isobutene polymer, a second phase a stiffening polymer including (meth) acryl and/or vinyl aromate units. The first phase is a reaction product of an isobutene polymers having on average at least 1.4 functional groups in the molecule and a cross-linking agent having on average at least 2 functional groups in the molecule which have a complementary functionality relative to the functional groups of the isobutene polymer. The molding compound is especially suitable for roofing buildings or as impact-modified polystyrene or polymethylmethacrylate.
