<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information acquiring method capable of acquiring accurate printer information at necessary timing and at real time without reducing printing throughput as much as possible. <P>SOLUTION: When acquiring information from a printer, reading processing is attempted to acquire the information before writing processing for specifying the information to be acquired, and the acquired information is used when the reading processing succeeds.
