<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of an automatic opening/closing device for a vehicle by simplifying its structure, and to enhance the operation reliability and quietness of the device. <P>SOLUTION: An arm member 22 is connected to a back door 13 in such a manner as to be oscillatable at a base end 22c. One end of a cable 27 is fixed to the base end 22c of the arm member 22, and the other end of the cable 27 is fixed to a leading end 22d of the arm member 22. A drum 24 is rotatably mounted in a vehicle body 12, and the cable 27 is looped over the drum 24 and wound around a driving drum 35 which is provided in a drive unit 31. When an electric motor 32 of the drive unit 31 is operated, the cable 27 is wound around the driving drum 35, and the arm member 22 is operated by being pulled by the cable 27. Thus, the back door 13 makes an opening/closing motion.
