PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for reproduction improved in user's operability. SOLUTION: A DVC 100 as a reproducing device has special reproduction functions for special reproduction such as fast-forwarding and rewinding, and is equipped with: a memory 102 which temporarily holds video data recorded on a magnetic recording tape 106; and a display section 105 which displays an image. When a reproduction button is pressed during special reproduction processing while an address counter is "n", images corresponding to all image data for special reproduction within ranges of address counters "n-5" to "n" are displayed and when an image corresponding to the address counter "n-4" is selected as a reproduction start image whose reproduction is to be started, a moving picture is to be reproduced from a tape start position ETN of the reproduction start image.
