PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet metal processing work support system capable of processing sheet metal highly precisely and in a short period without relying on experience or intuition, and remarkably improving the efficiency of sheet metal processing work regardless of the difference in workers. SOLUTION: The sheet metal processing work support system comprises a knowledge DB 6 for storing, as empirical rule data, solutions to various judgments required in metal sheet processing work; a turret punch press used for sheet metal processing work with reference to the empirical rule data stored in the knowledge DB; and a processing rule DB 5 for generating the most suitable processing rule for sheet metal material. An expanded shape definition part 1, a processing attribute addition part 2, a shape decomposition part 3 and a die arrangement part 4 operate according to the processing rule generated by the processing rule DB 5.
