PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article detector capable of being used in accordance with a purpose of a user without limiting detected objects to a variety of small article, documents, or equipment that are likely to be lost at home or in the office, and of detecting an object appropriately. SOLUTION: The article detector 1 is equipped with: a transmitter 2 which has a transmission means for transmitting a plurality of signals different from one another and is operated by hands; a receiving means for receiving the respective signals transmitted from the transmitter 2; a reception informing means for informing that the receiving means has received the signals; and a plurality of receivers 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, and 3e fitted to each of a plurality of objects.
