METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING CHANNEL QUALITY INFORMATION IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method for transmitting channel quality information in a wireless communication system is provided to increase system capacity by accurately providing information of each band in case an AMC(Adaptive Modulation Coding) technique is applied in a broadband OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)-based system. When a base station performs communication with a particular terminal, it determines a single channel quality information transmission mode among various modes(400), and receives channel quality information in the determined channel quality information transmission mode(410). When the channel quality information transmission mode needs to be changed while the terminal or base station is inspecting a state of a channel(420), the current channel quality information transmission mode is changed to a different mode through re-negotiation between the base station and the terminal(430).
