发明名称 METHOD FOR PRODUCING LOW-MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYPHENYLENE ETHER
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyphenylene ether in which a low-molecular weight polyphenylene ether useful for electronic materials, which can be obtained by oxidative polymerization of a phenol compound having a cyclic substituent, can be obtained in high yield. SOLUTION: (i) The method for producing the polyphenylene ether comprises the steps of oxidatively polymerizing a phenol compound having a cyclic substituent represented by general formula (1) in a medium containing an aromatic hydrocarbon, mixing a reaction mixture containing the resulting reaction product and the aromatic hydrocarbon with water and a water soluble organic solvent to precipitate a polyphenylene ether produced by the oxidative polymerization, and collecting the precipitated polyphenylene ether. (ii) A method for producing a curable polyphenylene ether comprises the step of subjecting the above polyphenylene ether to chemical reaction for introducing an epoxy group or an unsaturated bond.
