PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine carrying and cutting a wire rod capable of making no scratch on its edge face when cutting a wire rod and capable of detecting both of a long material and a short material with high dimensional accuracy. SOLUTION: A machine 1 for carrying and cutting a wire rod is provided with: a carrying means, which carries, by a specified length, every wire rods disposed on a base part; a length measuring means, which measures the carrying length of the wire rod; a cutter, which cuts the wire rod carried; and a controller, which controls the motion of the carrying means, the length measuring means, and the cutter. The machine 1 is provided with a stopper member 4, which is displaced with respect to a base part 9 by being pressed to the wire rod being carried, and the amount of the displacement of the member 4 is measured by the length measuring means (a linear encoder 5). Further, the machine 1 is preferably provided with an energizing means (a coil spring 7) energizing the stopper member 4 in the direction opposite to the carrying direction of the wire rod. A plurality of stopper members 4 are provided. The press faces 43 of the members 4, which are pressed to the wire rod, have various shapes and may be replaceable. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
