Anti-rotation resistance allowing some movement in the piston rod axial direction, is provided on the upper or lower support cup (5a, 5b). This comprises a membrane (1) attached around the edge of the cup (5a, 5b). The region of this membrane remote from the support cup, is fastened to the vehicle bodywork (3). This is achieved by pushing this region onto a welded stud (2) provided on the bodywork.
