A prism sheet and a backlight unit having the same are provided to use a prism sheet without any protection sheets in a backlight unit, thereby improving a viewing angle of an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and reducing a thickness of the LCD. A prism sheet includes a prism supporting part(412), a plurality of prism shape parts(414), and a plurality of prism side surface parts(416). The prism shape parts are positioned on a top surface of the prism supporting part, and formed in the shape of triangle, wherein the prism shape parts are arranged in a line over the entire front surface of the prism supporting part. The prism side surface parts are formed at each side of the prism shape parts and in the shape of triangle. The prism shape parts focus light passing through a light guide panel and the prism supporting part to an LCD panel. The prism side surface parts advance the focussed light to the LCD panel. |
