PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head supporting apparatus for widely securing an effectual recording area on a recording medium while preventing damage of a ramp or a lift tab. SOLUTION: This apparatus is equipped with: a head for recording or playing back with respect to the recording medium; a suspension for supporting the head; and the lift tab connected to the suspension for sliding on a slide face of a ramp load device which holds the above head at the position separated away from the recording medium when loading the head onto the recording medium and unloading the head from the recording medium, and the head supporting apparatus having such features is offered, that the lift tab is inclined with respect to a surface of the recording medium from a connected section with the suspension, and the contact position between the lift tab and the slide face is shifted on the lift tab when the suspension is moved.
