PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relax the generation interaction among nuclear fuel pellets and fuel clads due to rise in the center temperature of fuel and volume expansion of nuclear fuel pellets during high burnup. SOLUTION: The nuclear fuel pellet is manufactured by sintering oxide fuel containing nuclear materials and has average diameter of bubbles formed in grains in manufacturing is 0.2μm or smaller. With this configuration, the textural variation (rim texture formation) caused in the fuel pellets in high burnup can be suppressed, and the volume expansion of the nuclear fuel pellets in high burnup can be reduced. Accordingly, interaction between the nuclear fuel pellets and the fuel clad in high burnup is relaxed, and integrity margin for fuel at high burnup time can be improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
