PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compensate for the distortion of the arbitrary waveform in the low-pass filter when a low-pass filter is used for rejecting noise in an arbitrary waveform. SOLUTION: The arbitrary waveform generator for generating an arbitrary waveform comprises a waveform pattern generation section for generating pattern data indicating the pattern of the arbitrary waveform, a DA conversion section for outputting the arbitrary waveform on the basis of the pattern data, and a compensation processing section for compensating the pattern data on the basis of values determined by differentiating the pattern data and the time constant of a path through which the arbitrary waveform output by the DA conversion section passes and inputting it to the DA conversion section.
