PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recycle paper sludge discharged from a paper production process. SOLUTION: The paper sludge PS is brought into contact with steam ST, also loaded with a powder PW1 of an alkaline substance such as calcium hydroxide and sterilized. This powder PW1 is dissolved and liquefied by bringing it into contact with the steam ST and the high-temperature paper sludge PS, and permeates the paper sludge PS. Then, in a next process, the sterilized paper sludge PS is cooled and then loaded with the powder PW2 of the alkaline substance such as calcium hydroxide. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
