PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simultaneously treating cyanide/ammonia-containing liquid waste in which problems of the conventional method are solved, liquid waste containing high-concentration cyanide such as a cyanide complex of zinc, copper, nickel or iron is treated without generating a harmful by-product and without incorporating cyanide in the sludge to be generated to decompose cyanide without generating HCN gas and also decompose high-concentration ammonia simultaneously, each of cyanide and ammonia is removed/decreased to have an effluent control value or lower and cyanide/ammonia-containing liquid waste is treated at low initial and running costs. SOLUTION: The method for simultaneously treating cyanide/ammonia-containing liquid waste comprises: a first oxidization step of adding hypochlorite to liquid waste containing free cyanide, the cyanide complex and ammonia while keeping the liquid waste at normal temperature or <80°C to decompose free cyanide and a part of ammonia; a second oxidization step of adding hypochlorite to the treated liquid waste treated at the first oxidization step while keeping the treated liquid waste at≥80°C to decompose the cyanide complex and residual ammonia; and aging step of completely decomposing the cyanide complex and ammonia while keeping the liquid waste treated at the second oxidization step at≥80°C.
