<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus improved in replacement workability and maintainability of a development apparatus while avoiding cost increase resulting from replacement of a photoreceptor and the peripheral equipment of the photoreceptor other than the development apparatus which are still workable thoroughly, together with the development apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A casing aperture 101d is provided in the casing 101 of a first process cartridge 100 so that a Y development apparatus 130 and a C development apparatus 160 are detachable to the casing 101 through the casing aperture 101d, and also the casing aperture 101d of the first process cartridge 101 loaded in the housing 30 of a printer is arranged to face to a housing aperture 34 opened with the opening action of the opening/closing door 32 of the housing 30.
