<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the stress of a viewer by improving the speed of response of an image control command using the current place of a reproduction as a starting point in a video on-demand system. <P>SOLUTION: A client 103 for reproducing an image displays image data required to a video server 101 by a reception through a network. The received image data are stored temporarily in first buffers 111 and 112 storing compressed data. The stored image data forced outside a first time range containing the place of the reproduction of a current image are deleted from the first buffers while leaving only parts of the data according to a specified rule. When a frame jumping reproduction displaying a discontinuous frame with time is carried out anew, the received data held to the first buffers are extracted and a decoding is started while the image data are required to the server 101 as using the most past data with the data stored in the first buffers to the server 101 or future data as the places of the starting of transmissions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
