INTIMAL THICKENING INHIBITOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intimal thickening inhibitor which can prevent the postoperative stricture due to neointimal thickening in the venous graft transplantation and can prevent the stricture due to neointimal thickening at the anastomosed part of the arterial graft in the arterial graft transportation.

SOLUTION: By dipping an arterial or venous graft for transplantation in a solution dissolving 0.001-0.1 wt.% (10-1,000 ppm) polyphenol, for example, at room temperature for one hour, the growth of vascular smooth muscle cells is inhibited and neointimal thickening is inhibited. Particularly suitable as the polyphenol is (-)-epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate (EGCg).
