ELECTRIC PROTECTION CIRCUIT FOR DOCKING STATION BASE OF HAND HELD METER AND METHOD THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a docking station base of a portable meter from contacting with liquid and an apparatus from being damaged by unspecific feed voltage and current. SOLUTION: When a short circuit occurs at a meter interface connector 26 and a voltage of the base exceeds a specific range, an electric protection circuit 54 removes power at the meter interface connector. These conditions of an electrical system 46 of the base are monitored regardless whether the meter and the base are electrically connected one another. The protection circuit has a visual display device 22. The base holds the meter in itself through the use of a drain located at the lowest point of a cradle so as to prevent liquid from pooling inside a cradle. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
