PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet member that makes it possible to reduce cogging torque without increase in a cost in an interior magnet-type rotary electric machine. SOLUTION: The permanent magnet member 10 for the interior magnet-type rotary electric machine includes a magnet section 1. When the magnet section is incorporated in a rotary electric machine, the magnet section has the shape of a cross section of the magnet section on a plane perpendicular to the rotating shaft of the rotary electric machine and/or such a shape that the positional relation between the cross section and the rotating shaft continuously varies.
