PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing the inner surface of a transfer belt and the surface of a transfer roller from being soiled due to plate wear. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 11 is equipped with an endless sheet type intermediate transfer belt 20 which is stretched and laid by a plurality of rollers 24, 26, 28, 30 and 32 from the inside and whose outer surface a toner image is transferred to.
