PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of black spots even when water is used as a solvent forming an image forming layer. SOLUTION: A heat developable sensitive material is provided which is obtained by disposing, on at least one side of a support, an image forming layer containing a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent for silver ions and a binder, wherein the heat developable sensitive material contains a compound which imagewise produces a chemical species capable of forming development starting points on or near the non-photosensitive organic silver salt, and a backing layer containing a phthalic acid compound of formula (A) is disposed on the other side of the support.
