A packing material which is suitable for high speed/high separation, is rich in hydrophilicity, and has resistance to high-concentration aqueous alkali solutions. The packing material comprises particles of a crosslinked polymer characterized by containing 20-95 mol% repeating units derived from a (meth)acryloyl monomer represented by the general formula (1) [wherein R² represents hydrogen or C_1-4 alkyl; R¹ represents -NR³-R⁴-R⁵ or -O-R⁴-R⁵; R³ represents hydrogen or C_1-4 alkyl; R⁴ represents alicycle-containing C_6-15 alkylene or linear C_4-8 alkylene; and R⁵ represents halogeno, alcoholic OH, amino, glycidyl, or epoxy].
