An oil sump (38) is positioned at the bottom of the gearbox (18) providing the gears as well as a chain (28) with a lubricant (36) when moved through the sump (38). The chain (28) is used in order to transport some of the oil (36) towards a small chamber (12) located above the sump (38) from where it is released by the centrifugal forces created by the motion of the wheels even when the engine is switched off, for instance when the vehicle is pulled onto a recovery van.
