<p>Disclosed is p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase having high resistance against a herbicide. A gene (a) or (b): (a) a gene encoding a herbicide-resistant p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase enzyme which comprises a polynucleotide comprising nucleotide 1 to nucleotide 1293 in the nucleotide sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:1; or (b) a gene comprising a polynucleotide which is capable of hybridizing with a polynucleotide comprising nucleotide 1 to nucleotide 1293 in the nucleotide sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:1 under stringent conditions and encodes a herbicide-resistant p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase enzyme.</p>
