AQUEOUS FLUOROPOLYMER DISPERSION AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

An aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion which is inhibited from increasing in viscosity even when it contains a fluorochemical surfactant with a molecular weight less than 1,000 in a low concentration; and a process for obtaining the aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion. The process for aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion production comprises adding one or more specific compounds to a raw aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion in which particles of a fluoropolymer are dispersed, and is characterized in that the raw aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion contains a fluorochemical surfactant (A) having a molecular weight less than 1,000 in an amount not larger than 100 ppm of the fluoropolymer and that the specific compounds are (1) an alkyl sulfosuccinate or salt thereof or a fluoroalkyl sulfosuccinate or salt thereof, (2) the fluorochemical surfactant (A), (3) a fluorochemical surfactant (B) having a molecular weight less than 1,000 which is different from the fluorochemical surfactant (A), and/or (4) an aliphatic carboxylic acid or salt thereof, the total amount of the specific compounds to be added being 10-5,000 ppm of the fluoropolymer.
