PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for electronic component which is easily made into a thin film, having high voidage and mechanical strength, with no internal shorting between electrodes, being excellent in holding performance of an electrolyte, and to provide an electronic component using the separator. SOLUTION: The separator comprises a porous film having communication holes, formed from the resin material whose main chemical is a synthetic resin of melting point at 170°C or higher and filler particles. It contains porous silica particles as the filler particles. The separator for electronic component is suitable for electronic components such as a lithium ion cell, polymer lithium cell, aluminum electrolytic capacitor, or electric double layer capacitor.
