PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that ink is wastefully discharged when a specified amount of ink is forcibly discharged in flushing. SOLUTION: A printing controller is provided with a carriage to move nozzles discharging a liquid, and characterized in that the controller moves the carriage, makes the nozzles moving together with the carriage discharge a liquid, makes the liquid land in a medium, and prints an image on the medium, and that the controller carries out flushing to discharge forcibly a liquid from the nozzles so as not to land in the medium, that is, carries out flushing by discharging an amount of a liquid according to the amount of the liquid discharged for forming the image.
