PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a modified woody material for getting a woody material superior in a dimensional stability, hardness and an aesthetic appearance on a surface by a treatment in a short time at a low temperature. SOLUTION: An aqueous solution used as a modifying treatment agent comprises a polymer containing a component, in a range of 5-100 wt.% of the whole, obtained by a radical polymerization of an ethylenic unsaturated acid anhydride or an ethylenic unsaturated dicarboxylic acid in which the carboxylic acid group can form an acid anhydride group and a heat crosslinkable acrylic resin containing an alkyl amine provided with at least two of hydroxyl group in which the hydroxyl group is made as a crosslinking component. A step for impregnating the modifying treatment agent into the woody material and a step for curing the heat crosslikable acrylic resin in the woody material are provided. At least one additive selected from a group consisting of polyvalent alcohols, water soluble epoxy resins and sugar-alcohols is added to the modifying treatment agent described above.
