PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-layer type curtain coater for supplying and dually applying a two-layer type curtain consisting of a first coating curtain and a second coating curtain on the surface of a web to be conveyed, which inhibits the paint loss in advance in the coating preparation process. SOLUTION: The first curtain nozzle and the second curtain nozzle are relatively transferable between the coating preparation position separated from each other and the coating operation position associated each other. In the coating preparation position, the first coating curtain from the first curtain nozzle is recovered at the first receptacle pan and the second coating curtain from the second curtain nozzle is received at the second receptacle pan. Thus, the first coating and the second coating are recovered as they remain separated from each other. In the coating operation position, the two-layer type coating curtain is formed by the first coating curtain from the first curtain nozzle and the second coating curtain from the second curtain nozzle.
