A weather warning system and method are provided to minimize damage and injury from disasters or accidents by preferentially controlling alarming units or devices through a set-top box. A weather warning system includes an emergency weather alarm part(20) outputting an alarm signal, a communication network(30) transmitting the alarm signal, an alarm unit(50) generating visual and acoustic signals, and a set-top box(40) intercepting the alarm unit to preferentially generate an alarm signal transmitted via the communication network. The emergency weather alarm part has a main controller(21) collecting and processing weather and disaster information and a serve controller(22) controlling the set-top box. The main controller consists of an information collecting part(21a) and an information processing part(21b). |
