<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase brightness and contrast, and to prevent a life span decrease in relation to a backlight assembly for a liquid crystal display device, and especially in relation to an arrangement structure of light emitting diodes used as light sources for the backlight assembly. <P>SOLUTION: The invention is related to arrangement of a large number of light emitting diodes 124 in a two-dimensional structure on a metal printed circuit board 122, and is characterized in that the large number of light emitting diodes 124 constitute clusters 127 of the light emitting diodes of square shapes and so on. Consequently, not only brightness on a liquid crystal panel is improved, but also local adjustment of brightness of the light emitting diodes 124 is made possible so as to increase a contrast ratio on the liquid crystal panel on which an image is displayed. Furthermore, the large number of light emitting diodes 124 which are arranged so as to be separated apart from each at predetermined intervals are constituted in the square shapes and so on so as to prevent the life span decrease of the light emitting diodes with a heat dissipation effect. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
