<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trivet capable of adequately heating a cooking utensil such as a wok, especially the rear of its bottom surface, being convenient to use in frying, such as for Chinese food, and eliminating the danger of a saucepan falling forward. <P>SOLUTION: The trivet, when located above a source of heat, supports the bottom surface of a cooking utensil with the peripheral edge of an opening formed in the upper surface of the trivet.
