PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an image with a small amount of color smearing by always carrying out appropriate registration compensation for variation in the registration occurring due to deformation caused by heat expansion in an optical path member arising with the rise in temperature in a machine in an image forming apparatus by numerous image forming actions when a small size transfer material is continuously used in an image forming apparatus heat-fixing a toner image to the transfer material. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with an execution frequency control means variably controlling the executed frequency of control by an electrostatic image forming condition control means in the unit pages of the transfer material on which a first and a second toner images are heat fixed by a fixing means according to the length of the transfer material in the direction orthogonal to the proceeding direction of the transfer material.
