PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring system for an elevator capable of facilitating conversations between an elevator car and a center by reducing effects of delay of audio signals. SOLUTION: An elevator communications apparatus 4 is connected with a center side communications apparatus 5 via a digital line network 7 and a telephone line network 6. When abnormality signals and image signals transmitted from the elevator communications apparatus 4 to the center side communications apparatus 5 via the digital line network 7 at the time of abnormalities of the elevator are not transmitted, or when the audio signals are delayed beyond predetermined time, a transmitting circuit network is switched to transmit each signal via the telephone line network 6, so as to facilitate conversations between the elevator car and the center.
