PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fastener which brings about hemostasis in tissues of various thicknesses. SOLUTION: A system for sealing the tissue having first and second surfaces has at least one rivet 2 equipped with a shaft 8 having the proximal and the distal ends. The rivet has a head portion 6 in the proximal end and further a leading edge 4 at the distal end. The leading edge 4 has a profile suitable for tissue penetration and is adapted in order to penetrate the tissue through the first and second surfaces, in the distal and an anvil which has a hollow which is adapted so as to interact with the leading edge and is adapted so as to fix the tissue to the space of the head portion 6 in contact with the first surface and the leading edge 4 in contact with the second surface by changing the profile of the leading edge when tension is given to the leading edge.
