PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power distribution system for medical devices such as pacemakers, including a pulse generator where the medical device selectively generates pulses, a control module for selectively controlling the pulse, and the power distribution system for supplying power. SOLUTION: The power distribution system 420 comprises N batteries 450-1, 450-2 and the like, where N is an integer greater than one, a common node, and N protection modules 430-1, 430-2 and the like. The N protection modules 430-1, 430-2 and the like communicate with the control module 408A and 408B, selectively connect a respective one of the N batteries 450-1, 450-2 and the like to the common node based on control signals from the control module 408A and 408B, and monitor current provided by the respective one of the N batteries.
