There is provided a medium processing device such as a CD publisher having a function as a media library. When a data write request or an additional write request is made, a CD publisher (5) extracts media (11A, 11B) from a media storage unit (12), sets them in a media drive (13), writes data, and stores them in a written media storage unit (19). When a data reference or an output request is made, the CD publisher (5) acquires the object medium (11B) from the media storage unit (19) according to the storage content of the storage unit (17) and sets it in the media drive (13). It is possible to reference the data in the medium (11B) from outside and to use the medium having the written data as a media library. When the last additional write is complete or an eject instruction of the medium (11B) is made, labels of data written on the label surface (11a) of the medium (11B) are printed at once before the medium (11B) is ejected.
